THE NITE WE SAVED THE ARTS

Eat, Drink & Save the Arts seems to be the theme for Hues Entertainment and DigitMan Music's upcoming event.  This Charity Cocktail Party, hosted by Seven "Digit" Hughes, will be held in Atlanta at the eclectic and Southwestern themed, Agave Restaurant (242 Boulevard SE, Atl, GA 30312) from 5-8pm on Thursday, July 29, 2010.

The night will be filled with artists from all genres of "the arts". In addition to the fantastic cocktails that will be served, there will also be a complimentary buffet sponsored by Agave. "I feel that this night will unite artists from all sides and will help raise money to assist in our 10,000.00 commitment that we've made to The Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts in New York", says Seven "Digit" Hughes.
"Digit, founder of the Campaign for the Arts has committed himself to preserving the Arts and helping organizations and schools across the country save their Arts programs. Being also a board of director member of the Lisa Lopes Foundation, "Digit"is no novice to raising money and being about the community. He has been responsible for Branding the Foundation visually and through national media efforts.  "The Arts and community unity has always been a passion of mine. As a youth, I' was a member of the Urban League and in the military I was the Vice President of the B.O.S.S. organization. The YMCA has also awarded me with countless Letters of Appreciation. But, now with the Lisa Lopes Foundation and the Campaign for the Arts, I feel that I have definitely found my calling in the community", Says Seven.
Founded in 2009, by “Digit”, the mission of the Executives and Team of The Campaign for the Arts is to collectively help save the arts in schools worldwide, bring attention to artists of all genres, raise money for schools and not-for-profits and focus on providing solutions to issues that are plaguing our nations and our kids.  Visit www.campaignforthearts.com for more info.

Headquartered in Stone Mountain, GA, the Lisa Lopes Foundation was developed in 2003.  The mission of the LLF is to transform communities by providing access to basic Health, Education, Self-Awareness and Recreational Programs for children living in low-income communities within the US and underdeveloped communities within Central America.  LLF programs center on developing and reinforcing life skills in Healthy Lifestyles, Financial Literacy, Career Development, Civic and Social Responsibility, and Cultural Arts and Awareness.  Visit www.lisalopesfoundation.org for more info.

Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts, a division of Boys & Girls Harbor, is now celebrating 40 years of enriching lives through the arts, by offering high caliber, low-cost training in music, dance and theater to children and teens. Located in East Harlem, the Conservatory provides introductory, intermediate and pre-professional training to students ages 4-21. The Conservatory is unique in its focus on talent development through special ensembles, performances, career and college counseling, and placement. Students have been accepted into professional schools and conservatories, and have performed for commercials, sitcoms, public television, and on Broadway. While the Conservatory prepares young people for careers in the arts, it helps those who do not pursue this direction gain the skills they need to succeed in education, employment and positive community life. www.harborconservatory.org

How to find me

Management won't stay

Every since I started back with the music a few years ago, it's been crazy trying to find and KEEP a good manager.  What is the problem?  At first, just like the books say, "you're not going to get anyone who knows much about anything.  They'll just want to help you because they believe in you".

But, if they don't know much, it will hinder the process and no money will be made.  When money isn't made and people are working like mad men, they don't last long.  They get burnt out quickly and fold.  I know that management is hard and strenuous work. But if you're not cut out for it, or if you can't make your clients money, you shouldn't be in the business of management.

The job is about more than you. Its about your client "COMPLETELY". I understand that and can manage, however, professionals don't want to hear from the "talent".  So, where does this leave me?  I had to start and maintain an entire company with associates and employees just to get the word out about myself?  I had to pay a branding company to brand me. It was all me. (outside of God) Then I found management and stayed still?

But now, where am I?  Back to self-management and trusting in the other sides of my business to catapult me to the top!  I'll be there soon.

Until I get there...
Peace and Blessings
